Our duck quills are painstakingly selected for quality and are packaged in two matched pairs.  It is a real labor of love to bring the tyer quills which are consistently a pleasure to tie with.  The natural gray quills are from the mallard drake.  Great for classic wet flies and no-hackle patterns. These small tufts make realistic wings on smaller flies, size 14-26. They also are advantageous for emerging midge patterns when you want that vulnerable suspension effect in the surface film. Also known as Oiler Puffs. Some superb colours available. Colours in picture are: White Hot Pink Pale Morning Dun In order to dye feathers, fur, and hair, complete removal of all oil is paramount to achieve maximum penetration and permanence of color. The majority of dyed natural materials are devoid of their original natural oils and in most instances carry chemical odors that could possibly alarm fish who have highly sensitive scent glands. All of Nature's Spirits products are proudly processed with pure, natural preen oil. Natural preen oil processed materials possess resilience, sheen and a benign scent that can be translated into flies that are visually and functionally in a class of their own.

Most bags of soft hackle are full of unuseble rubbish with a few feathers that are suitable for hackling. Nature's Spirit Select Grizzly hackles are different. EVERY hackle is usable so although the packets look smaller they are better valu then other brands on the market and you get superb colours as well. 20 Colours of Grizzle Hackle. Use the grizzle collaring hackle for Salmon flies, Saltwater flies, Lures etc. These are superb. We are really excited about these large, webby feathers which have a minimum of taper making them ideal for collaring your favorite patterns.  Suitable for a hook size range of #2 to #8.  They will typically provide as many as 5 or 6 turns of hackle.  Available in a wide range of both buggy and bright colors to collar everything from large nymphs to bass bugs to buggers, from salt to salmon or steelhead flies.  Every feather is hand selected 24 select feathers per pkg

Fibers are longer and more translucent than goose biots making them ideal when wrapped for segmented bodies. You can tie a lot of flies with a pair of our quills, as both sides of the stem are usable. Each quill is hand selected for quality, with the waste trimmed off. I have looked long and hard for marabou to match ours here at funky fly tying and think i have now found it. I have inspected a few packs and EVERY feather is simple superb.
